Near Death Experience (Also, AbandonedFic!)
My trusty laptop claimed its third powercord (effing Dell quality control). I was very lucky not to have my hard drive fried when my powercord's AC Adapter box began to make burning/sparking noses, grew hot, and started to visibly shake. Now I'm back to powercord #2, which I had retired because of exposed wiring and generally shittiness.
Also, while I was backing up files in the aftermath of this near disaster, I discovered that I apparently once started writing Mega Man fanfic -- only two paragraph's worth, but still. Who knew? I have no idea where this was supposed to go storywise, but I'm getting a Ghost in the Shell vibe to the intro:
In the 21st Century, information networks and free trade brought a new golden age to mankind. Billions were lifted out of poverty as prosperity spread around the globe. This development was not sustainable. Following peak oil and widescale ecological collapse, the world's nations plunged into widespread international and internecine conflicts over the remaining available resources. Economies collapsed. Famine starved even the First World. Disease new and old ravenged humanity. Billions died.
In the year 2047 a new power was discovered: ENERGEN CRYSTALS. Located deep beneath ancient impact crators, energen promised a return to the glory days of the 20th Century. However mining energen was a delicate process and had to be done by hand. The technical training needed combined the inherent radioactivity of energen crystals made human labor costly to the point of impracticality. To overcome this difficulty, as well as to maximize the usefulness of its remaining oil reserves, humanity turned its talents towards robotics.
This is the age of the ROBOT MASTER.

MEGA MAN: THE FALL OF MONSTEROPOLIS

Knowing me, I'm sure whatever plot there was would have involved writing at least 500k of prose and no less than seventeen shocking swerves.
